Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today announced a comprehensive plan to strengthen Odisha's economy by 2036, emphasizing development across ports, roads, railways, and air transport.
The announcement came during the inauguration of the 84th Indian Road Congress Conference, attended by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
Highlighting rapid national progress, CM Majhi noted that since 2014, 55,000 km of national highways have been built nationwide, nearly 60% of the total built since independence.
The Odisha government is preparing a "Comprehensive Infrastructure Master Plan" and has enacted the Odisha State Road Policy-2025 and Highway Authority Act-2025. Furthermore, the Centre has sanctioned ₹13,069 crore for National Highways in the state for FY 2025-26.
Union Minister Gadkari, focusing on world-class roads, announced an additional ₹1,000 crore under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund and suggested using Bhubaneswar’s solid waste for road construction to promote cleanliness.
