The Balasore District Chief Health Officer (CDO) has launched an urgent investigation into the discovery of a large quantity of government-supplied medicines found dumped on the Srijang-Rasalpur road near Tundara.
Hundreds of packets of Iron and Folic Acid 50ml syrup, with an expiry date of September 2026 and a preparation date of April 2025 (Batch: CHS-50065), were discovered just a few kilometers from the Srijang Primary Health Center (PHC).
The incident has sparked outrage, raising serious questions about the theft and wastage of essential public resources, especially when patients often face medicine shortages at local health centers.
The CDO has confirmed that a team of medical officers is assessing the situation and promised strict action against any government officials found responsible for illegally disposing of the valuable medicine stock.
