A team from the Public Health Department exposed a brazen liquor smuggling operation running out of a medicine shop named Sriganesh near the Bhadrak city bypass today.
Initially arriving to inspect the shop's license, officials were startled to find a box containing foreign liquor bottles. Town police were immediately alerted, leading to a joint raid.
According to Drugs Inspector Deepak Jena, three liquor bottles were recovered from the main shop area, with additional bottles discovered in the inner storeroom. The inspection further revealed that the shop’s license had expired in 2023 and had not been renewed.
The operator had allegedly been selling medicines without a valid license for approximately three years. Police have registered a case and are conducting further investigation into the illegal sale of liquor and operating an unlicensed pharmacy.
