In a significant crackdown against the illegal sale of hazardous kite string, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Enforcement Squad today raided shops and warehouses in Jhola Sahi, seizing a huge quantity of banned Chinese manja thread.
Despite the administration's ban, the glass-coated thread continues to be sold, posing a critical danger, especially to bike riders. Cuttack city has witnessed multiple incidents where commuters suffered neck cuts and hand injuries due to the sharp manja.
With Makar Sankranti approaching, the CMC and police have intensified vigilance to curb the spread of the deadly thread. An investigation has been launched to determine the source of the illegal stock, highlighting the persistent challenge in enforcing the ban against the life-threatening string.
