The Bus Association has strongly opposed the State Police's recent decision to grant them additional powers for motor vehicle checks, warning of a statewide agitation if the move is not reconsidered.

General Secretary Devendra Sahu expressed concern that the new powers, which he claims were repealed 40 years ago, will lead to "unnecessary stopping and harassment" of private buses. While supporting Section 184 for accident prevention, Sahu criticized the police for gradually increasing their authority.

The association previously postponed a "steering strike" planned for July 8 by commercial vehicle drivers, citing President Draupadi Murmu's visit.

Sahu announced that if the government fails to take action on their submitted memorandum, private bus services will be completely stopped across the state starting December 1. The final decision will be made at a general board meeting on November 25.
