The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially taken over the much-discussed Odisha police recruitment scam, with the Crime Branch having handed over all documents.

The CBI team is focusing its probe in Berhampur today, starting a ground-up investigation. The team will consult with the complainant DSP, the police officer who tracked the aspirants' bus to Andhra Pradesh, and is currently questioning arrested suspects.

The agency plans to interrogate seven key middlemen to determine their dealings with the suspects. In the coming days, the CBI will question 12 total suspects.

Crucially, the CBI plans to apply to the court for the remand of seven key figures, including Silicon Tech Lab CEO Suresh Nayak and Panchsoft Technology Director Shankar (Mastermind).

While 114 arrested aspirants were recently granted conditional bail, the CBI continues to pursue the central figures of the fraud.
