A pall of gloom descended over Shinipur village in Bhadrak district after two young children tragically drowned in a pond on Monday. The incident occurred in Sahapur panchayat under Pirhat police station.
The victims were identified as four-year-old Himanshu Sahu, who was visiting his uncle, and three-year-old Anant Barik, son of Bulu Barik of Shinipur village.
The accident took place when the children, playing near the house, accidentally fell into a nearby pond while family members were busy preparing for a Thakur Puja. After a search, the children were found floating in the water body behind the house.
They were immediately rushed to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors tragically pronounced them dead on arrival.
