The state has been hit by its first cold snap, with temperatures expected to drop further over the next two days.

Over the past three days, various parts of the state saw temperatures fall by approximately 5 degrees, with a further drop of about 3 degrees in many areas during the last 24 hours.

The cold has intensified, with Phulbani recording the lowest temperature at 12.5 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours.

Bhubaneswar's minimum temperature was recorded at 17 degrees Celsius last night. The regional meteorological department forecasts that the minimum temperature could decline by another 2 to 4 degrees in the coming two days.

This increased chill is due to a dry cold wind blowing in from the northwest, signaling a further rise in the intensity of the cold.
