A severe cold wave has gripped the state, with temperatures steadily falling over the last few weeks, causing bone-chilling conditions from the coast to the interior. While some families are enjoying the chill by gathering around fires, many citizens are struggling with the extreme cold.
The Meteorological Department has forecast a further drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next three to four days, predicting an escalation of the cold wave, particularly during the evenings.
The lowest temperature this morning was recorded in G. Udayagiri, the state's highest point. Even in the capital, Bhubaneswar, dense fog is reducing morning visibility to less than 100 meters, contributing to road accidents in several areas. People are advised to take necessary precautions.
