India is observing Constitution Day (Samvidhan Diwas) today, commemorating the formal adoption of the Constitution by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949. The Constitution subsequently came into effect on January 26, 1950.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended his greetings via a tweet, stating, "Let us resolve to fulfill our duty towards nation-building by respecting the values of our Constitution and dedicate ourselves to the service of Mother India."
The monumental task of drafting the Indian Constitution took 2 years, 11 months, and 18 days.
Constitution Day was first officially celebrated in 2015 to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, known as the Father of the Constitution. The Fundamental Duties are highlighted on this day, reminding citizens of their responsibilities to the nation.
