A tragic road accident on the Cuttack-Tangi National Highway No. 16 early this morning resulted in the immediate death of three people and serious injuries to two others.
The incident occurred around 3:30 am at Bainchua Rajakana Chacka under Tangi police station limits. A Bolero vehicle, traveling towards Bhubaneswar, first hit the road divider before colliding violently with a container truck coming from the opposite direction. The collision was so severe that the top part of the Bolero was completely destroyed.
Reports indicate the Bolero was carrying mine workers from Keonjhar to Bhubaneswar. Tangi police rushed to the scene, rescued the two seriously injured individuals, and admitted them to SCB Medical College.
The container's driver and helper are reported safe. Police suspect the Bolero was speeding, leading to a loss of control. An investigation into the accident is underway.
