The Vigilance Directorate has caught an Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI) red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000. The accused, identified as Abhimanyu Behera of Derabis tehsil's Nikiri, was apprehended in a trap operation.
Behera had allegedly demanded Rs 15,000 from applicant Shrinath Mallik to provide a favorable report for a house land title deed. After negotiation, he agreed to take Rs 12,000. The Vigilance team seized the bribe money upon his arrest.
Following the successful trap, the Vigilance Department is currently investigating Behera's income and undeclared assets.
Simultaneous raids are being conducted at two locations, including his residences in Alli and Garapur. Further investigation is ongoing.
