The historic Gundicha Temple in Puri is set to reopen for devotees from December 1, following a six-year closure that began during the COVID-19 pandemic. Shri Jagannath Temple Chief Administrator Arvind Padhi confirmed the decision.

The temple will operate daily from 6 AM to 6 PM, with winter hours (November to February) running from 6 AM to 5 PM. However, the temple will remain closed during the entire period of the annual Ratha Yatra.

An experimental ticket darshan system will be introduced with an entry fee of Rs 10 per devotee. Entry will be free for children under 5, senior citizens above 80, and persons with disabilities.

Free facilities for footwear, mobile storage, and drinking water will be provided. The administration has cleared encroachments and undertaken beautification efforts to ensure a smooth pilgrimage experience.
