Devastating floods and landslides in Nepal have left at least 584 people dead and 2,482 missing. Two days after a catastrophic flash flood struck near the China-Nepal border, 77 international pilgrims from an Isha Foundation Kailash Mansarovar group remain unlocated.
The missing multi-national group, comprising participants from 19 countries, was at the Gyirong immigration office when the disaster hit. Rescue operations involving over 7,400 personnel have been severely hampered by unstable barrier lakes, blocked routes, and fresh avalanches dropping 50,000 cubic meters of snow.
Isha Foundation coordinator Gambhiri noted that families are anxiously awaiting updates. Foundation founder Sadhguru sought official permissions to travel to Gyirong to assist relief efforts, while embassies across India, China, and Nepal coordinate emergency responses. Search operations continue intensively despite treacherous terrain and ongoing weather hazards.
