The death toll in Nepal's devastating flash floods has climbed to 547 following a torrent in the Bhotkeshi river in Rasuwa. Ministry Secretary Randhir Jaiswal reported that 93,000 people are affected, 1,500 remain missing, and 3,253 have been rescued. Among the missing are 320 Indian nationals, while around 400 others stranded on the Chinese border are confirmed safe.
Meanwhile, 21 evacuated Indians arrived safely in Delhi, where External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar greeted them at Indira Gandhi International Airport. He expressed gratitude to the Nepalese government, army, and the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu for their swift support.
India continues to spearhead relief efforts, preparing to dispatch specialized rescue and medical teams to extract survivors trapped in a tunnel. Joint operations between the Indian government and embassy are underway to coordinate safe repatriations.
Last Wednesday's violent flash floods obliterated houses, major bridges, and power projects across the mountainous terrain, leaving 393 recovered bodies still unaccounted for as rescue operations press forward.
