Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi turned the inauguration of Kalahandi Ghoomura Mahotsav 2026 into a massive development showcase, launching 3,612 projects worth ₹891.39 crore. This follows a previous ₹620 crore infusion, totaling over ₹1,500 crore in development for the district within 18 months.
The CM announced the ₹3,325 crore Utei Rawal Irrigation Project and plans to develop a Kalahandi-Nabarangpur cotton cluster. Emphasizing farmer welfare, Majhi noted that schemes like PM-Kisan, Subhadra, and paddy bonuses now provide an additional ₹71,000 annually per farming family, boosting registrations to 1.21 lakh.
Vowing to make Kalahandi Odisha’s agricultural leader, Majhi reiterated the "Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi" mantra, promising balanced industrialization and infrastructure for health and education. The state government also confirmed arrangements to collect paddy from all farmers, with the Centre ready to lift 8 lakh metric tons of rice.
