Bhubaneswar is on high alert as a major fire gutted a market complex near CRP Chowk today. Triggered by a suspected short circuit, the blaze tore through a teddy bear and toy shop, where flammable materials caused the flames to spread rapidly.

Four fire brigades are currently battling the inferno to prevent it from engulfing neighboring stores.

This incident follows the devastating fire at Lingipur Supermarket just days ago, which took 70 personnel and robotic technology 21 hours to subdue. While no casualties have been reported at CRP Chowk, local traders fear massive financial losses as thick smoke blankets the area.

These recurring short-circuit fires in the capital’s commercial hubs have sparked serious safety concerns.

With the memory of the Lingipur disaster still fresh, today’s blaze serves as a grim reminder of the urgent need for enhanced fire audits in crowded shopping complexes.
