Even as the region recovers from Cyclone Arnab, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warns that a fresh depression is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal around October 31.
A low-pressure area currently active over the southern Andaman Sea is expected to concentrate into a well-marked low-pressure area within 24 hours. Moving west-northwestwards toward the Andhra Pradesh coast, favorable sea conditions could potentially cause this system to intensify further into a cyclone.
Under its influence, heavy rainfall is expected to lash various districts of Odisha starting November 1 and 2, while Andhra Pradesh braces for renewed downpours.
With weather experts closely tracking the system's trajectory, authorities have issued a strict warning advising fishermen to stay away from the Andaman Sea and the southeastern Bay of Bengal.
