The increasing brazenness of local looters has long kept residents in a state of fear, but a recent breakthrough by the Capital Police Station has brought a notorious criminal to justice.
The suspect, identified as Rakesh Khuntia (alias Tutulu), was apprehended following a daring daylight robbery at the Capital Hospital parking lot.
On March 26th, complainant Ranjit Biswal returned to his parked vehicle to find the window shattered. Stolen from the car were an iPhone and Rs 25,000 in cash.
While the act was caught on CCTV, the police caught a lucky break when they tracked Khuntia to Bapuji Nagar. He was caught red-handed while attempting to sell the stolen mobile phone.
Investigations revealed that Khuntia is a seasoned offender with more than 17 criminal cases already registered in his name. This arrest marks a significant win for local law enforcement in their ongoing battle against recurring theft and property damage.
