Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have officially debunked reports of fuel shortages in Odisha, confirming that petrol and diesel supplies are fully under control.
The panic sparked in early May following a sudden demand spike in border districts, including Nabarangpur, leading to long queues and "dry" pumps. OMCs responded by deploying additional tankers to restock affected stations rapidly. Officials now confirm that fuel is being supplied at normal rates across the state.
To maintain stability, OMCs issued two key directives:
For Industry: Industrial units must purchase directly from oil companies; retail pumps are not authorized for bulk sales.
For Public: Motorists are urged to stop panic-buying.
Hoarding creates an "artificial crisis" that disrupts the supply chain. The message is clear: there is plenty of fuel, so there’s no need to rush to the pumps.
