Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held detailed discussions with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today regarding fresh protests over Kharif crop procurement tokens in the state. Farmers' organizations have resumed agitation despite earlier agreements on sales.


Following the protest, Pradhan immediately spoke with CM Majhi, urging a swift resolution to the token issues.


Simultaneously, Pradhan met Union Minister Prahlad Joshi, requesting increased procurement targets for Odisha. Consequently, the Centre has significantly raised the paddy procurement target for the current Kharif season from 40 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) to 47 LMT. The Rabi target was also increased from 10 LMT to 11 LMT, boosting the total procurement target to 58 LMT to protect the interests of Odisha's farmers.
