The headmistress of Chhagaon Government Higher Primary School, Athagarh, has been accused of stealing rice meant for the students' midday meals.
On Friday, villagers intercepted the headmistress as she was loading sacks of rice into her car. Upon inspection, they discovered five bags of midday meal rice inside the vehicle. The villagers immediately detained the headmistress and informed the police.
Locals have filed a formal complaint, alleging the headmistress has been habitually stealing the food grain. A police team arrived at the scene and took custody of both the headmistress and the car containing the stolen rice. An investigation into the serious misappropriation of student resources is now underway.
