Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling, responding on behalf of the Chief Minister, informed the Assembly today that a crucial meeting of the Joint Technical Team regarding the Mahanadi water dispute will be held tomorrow, December 5th.
The Minister's statement came in response to a query from Congress Legislative Party leader Ramachandra Kadam on steps taken over the last 16 months.
In a written reply, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi confirmed that he has met with the Union Home Minister and departmental ministers in New Delhi to seek a solution through dialogue.
He also stated that in the past 16 months, two secretarial-level and six technical committee-level meetings have been held between the Odisha and Chhattisgarh governments. Furthermore, a tribunal hearing on the issue is scheduled for December 20th.
