The state government has announced significant financial and logistical support for the world-famous Bargarh Dhanu Yatra, which is scheduled to run from December 24 to January 3.
The Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department has sanctioned a financial assistance of ₹1 crore for the festival. Additionally, 200 performing artists will receive an honorarium of ₹10,000 each.
To enhance public viewing, the government plans to live broadcast the play on large LED screens and run special tourist buses from Bhubaneswar and Puri to Bargarh. A themed gate will also be erected at the city's main entrance.
Meanwhile, the selection process is complete, with Sushil Kumar Mehar of Chichinda village chosen to play the central role of Kansa Maharaj.
