A festive Makar Sankranti turned tragic in the capital today after a youth sustained life-threatening injuries when his neck was slit by illegal kite-flying wire (Manja). The victim is currently in critical condition at a local hospital.

Following the incident, the Commissionerate Police launched a massive crackdown on Market Building (Unit-1). Despite a month-long ban on the sale of Chinese and synthetic Manja, several traders were found violating safety regulations. Under the leadership of the Zone 1 ACP, police teams raided multiple shops and warehouses, seizing a large stockpile of the prohibited string.

"We are in full action mode to enforce the ban and ensure public safety," a senior official stated. Authorities have warned of strict legal action against vendors endangering lives. The incident has sparked fresh calls for a total boycott of lethal kite strings to prevent further casualties during the harvest festivities.
