The Vigilance Department has caught Gaurang Sahu, the forester of the Bandahal section under the Brajrajnagar forest range, while accepting a bribe of ₹5,000.
Sahu had reportedly demanded the money from a person to process the permission for cutting and transporting dry eucalyptus trees. The complainant informed the Vigilance, leading to a trap.
On Friday, the Vigilance team caught Forester Sahu red-handed on his office premises as he received the bribe. Although the forester attempted to flee upon seeing the team, the officials successfully detained him along with the bribe money. Following the arrest, the Vigilance Department registered a case and simultaneously conducted raids at two locations associated with the forester.
