The Odisha government is initiating a major reform to revamp the school education sector by completely changing the curriculum for Classes 1 to 12. Public Education Minister Nityanand Gand announced this plan in the Assembly on Friday.
The government aims to align state education with national standards by adopting the framework of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). The process of revising textbooks is underway in a phased manner.
A high-level committee, led by Professor Nityanand Pradhan, has been established to redesign the curriculum for primary classes (1 to 8). This initiative follows Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s launch of the ‘Odisha Curriculum Framework-2025’ on Guru Diwas, which aligns the state’s education system with the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
